We’ve been to the launches.

The prize ceremonies.
The festivals that celebrate work once it’s already been approved.

And every time, we wondered what gets lost when value is measured that way.

Not collective practice.
Not cultural lineage.
Not work that grows in community.

We wondered about -

The ideas still forming.
The visions shared in conversation.
The dreaming that happens before anything has a name.

This is a literary series that starts there.

Friday 20th February

— Mon 23rd February

two/fiftyseven, Te Whanganui-a-Tara—Aotearoa

We’re often taught that value comes after approval.
That stories matter most once they’re named, published, or validated.

But what if imagination is where the real work begins?

Tadra Vata is a space for ideas, dreaming, and collective visioning.

Speakers include Hana Buchanan, Emelihter Kihleng, Tagi Qolouvaki, Tihema Baker, Gina Cole, Story Hemi-Morehouse, Makanaka Tuwe, Elsie Andrewes and more.

Through workshops, reading evenings and panels, Tadra Vata creates space to learn, question, and dream collectively—centred on ideas, creative process, and the sharing of knowledge across generations and communities.
